History
Berwick Began as a settlement in 1627, but by 1689 it had become completely
demolished by Indians. Re-settled in 1703 with the name “Newichawannock”.
It was not until 1713 that the name Berwick was adopted, named after a
town in England. The state of Maine's first schoolhouse was built here
in 1719.
