Did you miss our Tea and Stitchery event last month? If so, you have second opportunity to enjoy this special experience!
Do you love antique clothing? Or perhaps you enjoy hand sewing? You are invited to stop in at the Colonel Paul Wentworth House on Sunday, September 3 for Tea and Stitchery with the Wentworth ladies as they gather in the parlor to drink tea, sew and discuss the latest fashions of the 1700s.
Between 1 and 4 pm, interpreters in period attire will demonstrate the tools and techniques involved in hand sewing 18th century clothing. Both completed garments and some in process will be on display. Additionally, visitors will be able to view “Fashionable Folks: What New Englanders Wore,” our current exhibit of women’s fashions from the 1830s to the 1920s.
Interested members of the reenacting community are particularly invited to bring along their sewing projects and join the ladies for this special afternoon. Can we set a place for you? For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
